Conservation Through Cultivation

I’m Michele Beam, the owner of Moonbeam Botanicals. I want to thank you for taking the time to visit and share your love of plants with me.Moonbeam Botanicals was created out of a passion for horticulture, a deep appreciation of nature, and a desire to provide fellow collectors with a reliable, ethical source for rare plants.

“Conservation Through Cultivation” is the belief that we can preserve endangered and at-risk species of plants through cultivating them in our personal collections. Each time we propagate and share one of these plants, we are adding to the longevity of that species and helping to maintain the biodiversity of our beautiful planet. The more we share, the more the population of these plants grows, so spread the love!

Moonbeam Botanicals began in Spring 2019 as a social media business operating primarily through Facebook “Buy - Sell - Trade” groups. I stumbled into the world of these closed sales groups by chance, but it was a happy accident because it gave me the platform to start my business. I chose to move my business to an online storefront for Spring 2020 because it provides a less stressful and more equitable environment than traditional plant purges through Facebook Groups.

A little more about me: I’m a full time elementary school teacher and I absolutely love my job. Moonbeam Botanicals exists in part thanks to the encouragement and continued support of my colleagues and students. I’ve been an avid plant collector for 3+ years, but I grew up in the garden. Ever since I can remember, I have had an affinity for plants, flowers, and design. I look forward to expanding the floral and interior design aspects of my business as time goes on.
